Last night, at the New Theatre in Oxford, I interviewed Fran Lebowitz in front of 1,000 people as part of her Fane Productions tour. I chatted to her for the first half, and then she stood at a lectern and answered questions from the audience for the second half. Fran famously doesn’t like anyone using a microphone in the crowd (I’m assuming it’s because people waffle on) so people shouted out their question and she responded each time with a brilliant, blunt answer in her unforced funny signature style. I had the best evening, and while the interview was sadly not recorded, I thought I’d round up a few things that stuck with me while interviewing and researching her.
