Okay, Emma - I am so glad we're talking about 'Buying London'. I am HERE for this. I binge watched this not-so-guilty pleasure over a weekend. It's as wild as they get and I shouted at the screen multiple times. It's the series I love to love!
I read the article about Colleen Hoover and my heart breaks for her and other authors who receive relentless hate online. There is NO excuse or reason to create hateful content and to bash a human being, simply because they write fiction. It’s psychotic how someone can proudly call themselves an “(insert name) hater first and a person second.” To spend their own time on negativity and obsessing over someone and brewing in hate is unhealthy and not normal. Honestly one of the reasons why I absolutely refuse to ever partake in TikTok (along with other reasons). There’s always something negative happening and the echo chamber of “yes men” that’s evident on that app only reinforces these unhealthy habits and behaviors.
I genuinely wish there was a proper support system for authors from their agents or publishers, or better yet SOMETHING to prevent such hate and verbal abuse from circulating. It being a “review” should not excuse or permit hate. None of these negative reviews or critiques ever discuss fictional work that genuinely provides feedback that will aid a potential reader in knowing whether or not they’d want to read the book. But rather it attacks the writing style and author.
So many good ones on your scroll Emma! I am over the moon for Miranda July’s new book. I have been following her work for nearly two decades and deeply admire and respect her art practice. Also, huge congrats on such great book sales - woo hoo!❤️
Selling Sunset (and Selling OC) are my pleasures. I don't watch any of the other Selling ... shows, just those two. I'm also a Bachelor(ette) fan and I love all the shows I mentioned. I refuse to call anything I enjoy that isn't harming anyone else, a guilty pleasure. It's just a pleasure, no guilt involved. :)

Yes!! *slow claps* this is so true! Why are we so afraid of admitting we enjoy these shows? I LOVE THEM!
Please watch https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/81417684 - The Parisian Agency - for a wholesome antidote to all of those “selling x” shows! And of course Martin…..
Oh Jo, the comment I needed to see today *schedules in a binge-watching sesh*. I need something to follow my 'Buying London' moment!
Just read the interview with Deborah Levy on your recommendation - what a woman!
I still need to see The Idea of You and I'm really looking forward to finally sitting down and watching it soon.
Intergenerational friendship ❤️❤️👏👏❤️❤️
