I think about the long game quite a lot. I think one of the biggest skills in life — that we don’t talk about enough — is the art of making good decisions. And ‘good’ is subjective of course, a good decision can be good for us, and not make sense to anyone else (at least, for a while.) Something I pride myself on is being quite good at thinking ahead when it comes to my own career in a fickle industry.1 (More explanation on this in the footnote.)

Without long-term thinking (for ourselves; in our own industry niches) we can get so stuck in our own grooves (or get a bit too comfortable) and forget that things are always changing; and can then look up and think: oh god — what now? In this article I’m sharing 10 ways we can lean into long-term thinking and stay ahead of the curve. Aka, how to make decisions that are a gift to your Future Self.
