Oh my god - I feel seen. I joke with my family that I have “reverse SAD” and I genuinely countdown until the longest day of the year when I know that the days will slowly start becoming shorter again. I hate the pressure of sunny days and the aggressive fun of summer. I am also not a grump 😂 (love a good summer holiday) but I am not a summer girlie. One of my favourite holidays ever has been a driving holiday to misty rainy Scotland and I can’t wait to explore more of the misty rainy UK! Thanks again Emma for knowing your audience so well, your substack is my absolute favourite x

The Outrun is heartbreaking and beautiful. I saw it earlier this week at a preview and the photography and scenery are fantastic. I hope you enjoy it. There's plenty of rain too 😉

Fall is my fav season as well! Scarves, hats, soft blankets, cardigans and hot tea or cider. There’s something about the slowness too. The intentions of noticing the shifts in temperature and flora changing. The season of less pressure and more analog delights. Thank you for your Sunday offerings. Thoroughly enjoy the research and suggestions! Have a good week. 💛

I, too, am not a summer person. I've only recently learned there's a physiological reason for that (for me personally; my body doesn't regulate its internal temperature as well as the average person) I am also a bad beach person, don't tan, like cozy blankets and sweaters, and feel the pressure to 'go outside' when I want to be inside reading when it's summer.

I told someone this once, and they joked that they hoped I didn't have to go on a lot of beach vacations as a kid. It got real awkward and quiet when I mentioned that every single one of them were beach vacations. There are worse things, for sure, but after an hour I'm like, 'All right. I'm done. I have done beach. What's next?'

autumn is everything a season should be - unopinionated (weather enables both indoor & outdoor activitie) but also very themed if you want to lean into it. So excited :)

Absolutely agree with you about the pressure of summer! Autumn is my favourite by far. I’m currently reading under a blanket with a cup of tea and feeling no pressure to achieve anything more 🧡 thanks for your lovely post

I absolutely agree with you about summer. Too much pressure! All those annoying adverts about barbecues and bulk-buying of alcohol for the bank holiday weekend! ✋

Autumn is my favourite season. I can’t wait for it to be cold enough to get my jumpers and hoodies out. I’m currently away with my husband and the dog in Snowdonia. The forecast isn’t great, but we don’t care. Eric (the springer) certainly doesn’t care about the weather - he’ll be in the sea, loving life, regardless! ❤️

Thank you for these snippets of reading joy. They are perfect length for reading in the Sunday-morning moments when my toddler is engrossed in playing with something and I can read for a little bit. Much appreciated! And I have a candle recommendation: Monday’s Moon! I am really sensitive to scents and I adore all of Laura’s creations. My personal favourite is the ‘Full Moon’. I don’t know if links work on here (I’m new!) but here’s the link to her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mondaysmoon_uk?igsh=MXdxMG5namUwZm51Zg==

Could not agree more about Summer! Autumn is my favourite season, the colours are the best, and the permission to stay home and be cosy with a fire and a book 😃 (Though here in New Zealand we're moving into Spring, which has its own unique charms... the promise of newness and possibility in the air)
